Canon EOS 6D Mark II Detailed Review

The EOS 6D Mark II has a Full frame CMOS sensor with size of 36 x 24 mm² (1.42″ x 0.94″).

The EOS 6D Mark II’s image sensor has an effective resolution of around 26 megapixel. The resolution is far above average and will easily be sufficient for years to come. Photos with this resolution can easily be printed in A2 size or larger, even if unwanted parts of the photo have to be cropped.

The EOS 6D Mark II features a mechanism for automatic sensor cleaning.

The EOS 6D Mark II has an optical viewfinder with a penta prism. Viewfinders with a penta prism are typical for enthusiast and professional DSLRs. The viewfinder covers 98% of the field of view and has a magnification of 0.71x, an above average value for a viewfinder like this.

The EOS 6D Mark II’s shutter speed varies from 1/4000s to 30s.

The EOS 6D Mark II’s sensitivity is from 100 ISO and 40000 ISO.

Also, Canon’s sensitivity can be boosted to 102400. Therefore, ISO boosting will lead to growth noise.

The EOS 6D Mark II supports all general exposure modes.

The Canon allows spot exposure for the difficult occasion.

The EOS 6D Mark II’s auto focus processor uses 45 AF points (or sensors). A basic rule of thumb says that the more AF points you have, the better. More AF points mean a better chance to have a point at the location of interest in a scene, a big plus in challenging situations (e.g. in sports).

Manual focus is also possible with the Canon, a plus in tricky situations or for some creative freedom.

The EOS 6D Mark II doesn’t feature a built-in flash. That is not unsusual in this camera category.

A flash or a trigger for remote flashes can be attached to the Canon’s hotshoe.

The EOS 6D Mark II display has a diagonal of 76.00mm (3.0 inches.) and a resolution 1.04 megapixel.

The camera display is intended for selfies or other occasion.

EOS 6D Mark II video supported the resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixel.

Also the camera is equipped with an external microphone.

The EOS 6D Mark II has Wifi connectivity already built-in. Use Wifi to transfer images to a smartphone or computer and to remote control the camera. With NFC, camera and smartphone can be paired without the need for passwords.

For photo transferring users may use Bluetooth option.

Eventually, if the wifi connection is disabled the wired connection may be used.

Connect the Canon to a monitor or TV set over HDMI.

The Canon connects to your PC over USB 2.0. Given the high resolution that the camera supports, USB 3.0 would have been a nice addition.

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II has a LP-E6N LiIon battery. The battery provides a shooting life of 1200 shots. It`s enough for one day or more.
